THE CASE HISTORY

We will take a full medical history. We will try to find out why you have the problem.

THE EXAMINATION

You need to give us permission to do an examination.

There is a curtained area for you to undress in privacy.

You may be asked to undress ,but you will allways keep your underpants and bra on.If you want to, bring shorts.

We will observe your body, press on different parts with our fingers and get you to move in certain ways.We may use orthopaedic and neurological tests according to your condition.

Along with trying to establish your condition,we will be trying to detect any other problems which may need referral to your GP or Hospital.

EXPLANATION

We will explain what we think your problem is and why it is there.

We will explain what treatment we will do and a treatment plan.

We will explain if there are any risks with treatment and what you will experience.

TREATMENT

You consent to treatment before we start.

Treatment is by the Osteopath using their fingers and hands to move around muscles, bones, ligaments and joints.Sometimes there are noises from the joints as the air pressure changes in the joint or bits of cartilage move or bones change position.

Treatment is normally gentle but can be sore.Sometimes soreness can increase for 2-3 days as the tissues change when they are healing.

We will tell you what NOT to do, so that you do not aggravate your condition.

We will also tell you what to do to help yourself if possible and try to think of ways to stop the condition returning.

If you have any concerns at all please ring straight away ,please do not wait until the next treatment.
